Dear All Saints,

We have a BIG week coming for All Saints! Next week All Saints will host the Diocese of the Central States Annual Synod. The Diocese, or geographical region under the authority of Bishop Peter Manto, meets once a year to worship and do the business of the Diocese. Each parish sends the priests, deacons and lay delegates to represent them in this conference to fellowship with the Bishop and with each other. The opening Holy Communion service will begin on Thursday the 20th at 9.30am, in the Marie MacDonald Chapel. Business meetings will follow throughout the day. The closing Holy Communion will be on Friday, the 21st at 9.30am. The Bishop will preach and celebrate on Thursday. Fr. Heaton will celebrate and I will preach on Friday. You are all welcome to attend, and this is a great opportunity to see how we are part of something greater than just our own parish.

But things continue! Bishop Manto and his wife will stay in Lynchburg and make his annual visit to All Saints! He will meet with the Vestry on Saturday evening and then will preach and celebrate the Holy Communion with us on Sunday morning. Charlotte Morse, Peter Brophy and Judy Johnson (Dr. Stephanie Sullivan’s mother) will be confirmed at this service. We are very excited for them and I hope that the whole parish will turn out for this great occasion on October 23rd. There will be brunch reception to follow. The Hospitality Guild will provide quiches and hot and cold beverages. The ladies of the Hospitality Guild ask that you bring your favorite sweet or savory breakfast item to add to our potluck reception for the Bishop.

As always, I am so pleased to be the rector of such a loving and hospitable parish. I hope to see you all at the Bishop’s visit so that we can welcome him, and our new confirmands to the church.

Yours,

Fr. Morse
